Butter London - Wallis

I fell in love right when I saw this color at Ulta. The metallic olive rustiness that seemed to glow was calling me from inside that geometrically proportioned bottle. Too many descriptive words? There's a dupe out there by Love & Beauty - Safari, which you can buy at Forever21 for a fraction of the price but the finished look is a bit muted compared to Butters.

Who wouldn't love this? Any girl who loves color the way I do would totally appreciate this! This is my first bottle of Butter London and I had a hard time choosing JUST ONE bottle because it is $$$$ ($14). Moolah that I just don't have. So... I pace myself... The color selection makes it so hard not to stand there for less than five minutes trying to pick from an array shades that you don't normally see from one brand of nail polish.

Are you kidding me? It's so hard! They should start their own Julep box because the polishes are the same price. I would be on that! Well, just because they are the same price doesn't mean they have the same value because Julep's bottles hold 8 ml ($1.75/ml) while Butter holds 11 ml ($1.27/ml). If that makes a difference to anyone but to me that means I can paint more nails with Butter London.

Putting it on was comparable to Julep and I would suggest improving the brushes on them because they are a little skinny, which took more than enough strokes to keep it from clumping. Other than that, I will be wearing this shade for a while. I wonder what other shades Butter London will come up with next?

April 2012 Julep Maven Box

Sadly... no Golden Box. How the heck do you win it anyway??? Is it random? Could someone please tell me because the "hint" did not hint anything. "Your ticket to the Golden Box is you April box"? What? Anyway...

I'm just a little disappointed that I didn't get the Holy Grail of Julep boxes, but that doesn't mean that I didn't love the box that I did get. Ta-da!

Toe separators to go with your Pedi Creme! I honestly don't pay equal attention to my toes as I do with my fingers, but maybe this is a good time to start since Summer is right around the corner. You know what that means! FLIP-FLOPS! In other words, LAZY SHOES! Flip-flops and sandals are two different things, you know. Sandals compliments your feet while flip-flops, well... flip-flop. Attention-getters to let people know you are near. They are really called Shower Shoes because people used them in locker room showers just in case someone decides to pee in the shower... hmmm... but do people really use them primarily in the shower? Psssshh...

Anyway, I got sidetracked... here is a closeup of the polish...

Man, that red (Molly) is like Corvette red. It's so sexy and Alyson has such a pretty almond hue. I can't stop looking at that red and I don't normally wear red nail polish but I will put that on my nails!

I also ordered an add-on to my box this month that was sent separately...

This is, Parker! I don't really appreciate the extra package because it isn't very "green". I'm also waiting for my Julep makeup bag to come in the mail as well because it is my introductory gift. I'm guessing they prepackaged all the boxes before they were sent, then when they got the add-on orders they sent all that and introductory gifts. As if everyone recycles...

Polish Parties! Featuring Hook and Line

One great way for me and my closest girlfriends to have fun is to sit around, drink wine, and play with nail polish. That is how I spent my Saturday this past weekend. Except this time we had some beer and had Anchorman playing in the background. "Poop mouth" lol!

So, we grabbed what we could carry from my stash and headed over to the room with the TV. This had to include China Glaze's Hunger Games collection. My sister and I bought a couple packages of nail art display wheels and we played away... I should have taken a picture of the wheels when we were done! We had some nice color combinations!

My choice of lacquer was China Glaze's Hook and Line from the Hunger Games line. I asked my sisters what they thought and they said it reminded them of fish scales (not knowing the name of the polish) so, this is very appropriate in respect to the novel. It was very streaky going on but ultimately had a very nice metallic/pearly dull finish. I put about two layers of this on.

What's next?

Julep Maven March Boho Glam

I received my Julep box not very long ago and I couldn't wait to try these on.

Alicia - a beautiful salmon creme
Portia - which kinda reminds me of mermaids

I guess the combination of both feels very beach-like.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Julep. Most of the polishes, especially the creme hues, do not need a third or even a second coat to get the opaque layer. That means you use less polish! These thin bottles hold 8 ml at $14/ bottle compared to OPI, 15 ml at about $8/bottle. I don't feel as though I am being ripped off because the quality of Julep is quite superior and the colors are sought after.

My sister and I combined our collections and these are the other shades from their March IT Girl box.

Charlotte - A nice grey-ish purple creme
Melissa - Reminds of the inside of a shell
Jodie - A ruby satin hue with hints of gold sheen

NOTD and Gouda Gouda Two Shoes Review

So, this is my NOTD, as well as, a very surfaced review on OPI's Gouda Gouda Two Shoes shade from the Holland Line.

I decided to wear this shade today because I just started a new job and I have to network. I've always dreamed of a job where I could be in the background, never talk to people, and get paid a good amount of money. That's not where life took me. I have to talk to people. Everyday. To say the least, I do enjoy it. SO, I didn't want to wear the usual eye-catching shades that I'm used to because I had a meeting today and I didn't want my crazy nails to distract anyone. The woman I met today actually had bright crazy nail polish and I would have LOVED to gush about them with her but I had to digress. She obviously had a thing for lacquer but we had to stay professional... bleh...

When looking at the bottle you can see specks of tiny gold dust within the muted pink. It obviously shows in the picture as well but wearing it all day and also staring at my nails, you don't really see those gold specks. Maybe if you were out in the sun, but I work in an office and florescent light doesn't do anyone any good.

I bought the whole Holland line because the colors are so pretty when looking at them all in a row. Now, actually wearing one shade at a time, that's different and as I've come to realize, a little boring. The shade stood out to me at first... or maybe I didn't wear the right outfit today...

I know my mom would LOVE this shade. It kinda reminds me of the Revlon shades she used to buy when I was growing up.

Disappointed by OPI?

Yes. Me. I am. I will show you why...

OPI's Silk Negligee. I had the bottle for about a month and I can't remember where I bought it but this is completely UGGOS. It's not the same smooth layer of lacquer that I'm used to seeing from OPI. The soft shade is nice but the finished product makes me sick! Look at all that clumping!

Who knows... it could be me so, I'll give it another try. Just not today.

NOTD - Zoya's Carey

Zoya's Carey, that is!

Like I said, Luxe and Lush was next and there she is atop my one nail.

China Glaze... Hunger Games...

I did. I bought the whole line. There wasn't any debate about which colors I wanted the most. I went ahead and asked an employee, "Do you have more? Or else I'm taking this whole display."

Aren't they pretty? When reading my fellow bloggers blogs, most liked the Hook and Line from my observations, but I was more excited about Stone Cold. I don't know, I have this thing right now for matte. I did, however, wear Dress Me Up as the first lacquer from the line...

Ahhh... that's nice. Loving it! I just came from a nail polish spending spree so, I won't be wearing this for too long. I can't wait to try this baby...

Luxe and Lush... you are next. The flecks remind me of the kind of cellophane most people used when I was growing up in the 90's. I remember it covering gift baskets or the cellophane grass that lined Easter Baskets. Huh... that gives me an idea for Easter nails...

Julep Maven's St. Patrick's Day Mystery Box

So, let's start with Julep Maven. Like many of you out there who know about Julep's awesome monthly box, they have been coming out with Mystery Boxes that I absolutely jump up and down for when they arrive. I received Valentine's Day Mystery Box #7, which included 7 lacquers, 1 appliqué, 1 glitter pot, 1 plumping lip gloss, 1 nail growth serum, 1 hair shine spray, 1 age defying hand cream, 1 facial for hands, 1 cuticle oil, 1 top coat, and of course 1 chocolate heart.

How could I not be excited about the St. Patty's Day Mystery box?

I received my box on St. Patrick's Day and, yes, I was sober the whole day. This is what I got...

- Lacquers, from left to right
     * Charlotte (a beautiful purple/gray creme)
     * Rachel
     * Sofia (green with green flecks of glitter)
- 1 Basecoat
- 1 Glycolic Hand Scrub (Facial for hands)
- 1 Age Defying Hand Brightener
- 1 Glass nail file
- 4 Chocolate coins

Not as big as the Valentine's Day box but I'm happy nonetheless! The hand brightener smooths onto my hands so nicely and does not leave any kind of oily residue. Not to mention that it smells oh-so-nice.

I recently signed up for the Julep Maven box subscription, which only cost me a penny for the 1st month. I checked my bank statement and it sure is only a PENNY! This applies to new Mavens only and the promo code is only good for the month of March. Julep Link

Well, Hello, There!

What can I say? I LOVE nail polish!

I love sharing my love for it and getting in touch with others who feel the same way! I am by no means, a fashion guru, nor am I a nail technician. I am just another gal who decided to start their own blog and share what I find, learn, and love, so maybe other gals like myself don't feel so alone and guilty when they find themselves dangeriously staring at their freshly painted nails while driving. Don't worry, I'm working on that.

Stay tuned, Loves!
