Julep Maven - June 2012 Golden Box Winner!

Okay, the title is a little misleading because I actually didn't win the box. My nearest and dearest friend whom I referred to the Julep Maven subscription won this awesome of awesome-est June 2012 Julep Maven boxes. That lucky B. She walked in to her mother letting her know that she got a box in the mail. Knowing that her Julep box came in that day, she thanked her and was about to walk out of the room when she glanced at the spot where the box was. She saw what looked like a gold box and her heart skipped a beat.



A couple of weeks ago she asked me how to win the Golden box and I told her I had no idea and that I wanted to know as well. All I knew was that your box will be gold instead of black (or more recently, white). So, when she saw the non-black box, she already knew. She let me know that she switched her style for June and ordered add-ons. Her add-ons still came in. The key is... don't skip or cancel your Julep Maven subscription. It's pretty much randomly chosen.

I have a newfound excitement and renewed hope that I will one day receive one of these Golden Boxes and from the looks of YouTube videos and Blogs, there are more than one Golden Boxes each month.

Anyway, here are pictures from my box...

 

It was a happy surprise to find the lip balm! Not to mention the Pixy Sticks, which my son tried for the first time! I used it right away and it's very comparable to regular Chapstick. I wonder if they will come up with a whole line for lips as well. I received the glossy lip plumper from my Valentine's Mystery Box that I use occasionally and I hoped there would be more shades. I could totally see Julep expanding their horizons beyond polish.

 

I thought it was just my bottle of polish that had ugly brushes but when they included these replacements, I realized that it's a problem for Julep. I appreciate the replacements and here I thought that I couldn't complain about them because they came in a box bundle. Julep's customer service is beyond stellar and I can't rave about it enough!

Here are my polishes from my Boho Glam box. I like how the polishes come shrink wrapped now. I was at Sephora not that long ago and I didn't notice if those were shrink wrapped as well, but I'm guessing this is a good way for quality control. I used to be guilty of it and I know many of you out there still are. Guilty of opening those polishes and trying them on your nail before deciding if you want to buy it or not. Then putting that bottle back to grab a new one to purchase. Please... don't do that. You wouldn't want to buy a bottle that some stranger has already opened, who may or may not have nail fungus?! Yeah, I said it. That's my inner Germaphobe talking.

Daisy - Almost bright-as-the-sun yellow creme

After a few days, Daisy starts to look a little No. 2 pencil yellow but I normally don't wear my polishes for that long so it's no big deal. I loved the colors this month and you can bet I will be using some of my friend's polishes!
